King Gordy |
| Biography |
Who the fuck is King Gordy? He is a unique, slightly
twisted, musically anal, morbid music loving MC. He is an Entity. Gordys
look is just as unusual as his sound and King Gordys sound can best be
described as a turbulent mix of hard rhymes mixed with edgy guitars and crazy
beats. He is a different kind of hip hop artist and he knows he has a hard road
ahead of him. Gordy explains, I already know before people even hear the
music they are going to form an opinion about me. But there is so much
more to Gordy than meets the eye.
The name of King Gordys album is the Entity because, I am an entity.
Gordy sees his music as pure, hip hop escapism tinged with tough, touches of
reality. Gordys sounds a lot like a horror flick, sans the movie. As soon
as you hear the first powerful chords of the songs, In The Darkness
with its operatic crescendos and dramatic lyrics, your heart starts to beat
a little faster and the goose bumps start to appear on your arms. Im
hip hop with a rock and roll twist, the ghetto Edgar Allen Poe. In the
vein of some of Poes more dramatic stories, King Gordy takes the listener
on a journey with sonically graphic songs like, Nightmares, and
Time To Die.
Another theme throughout Gordys music is depression and he knows about
the subject first hand. Depression doesnt just come from the white
side. Rock artists dont just have a monopoly on depression You see
the results of this depression everyday in the hardened streets of Detroit that
King Gordy hails from. Its nothing but depression hovering in the weed
smoke of the toughest gangsters and the bums drinking on the corner. The songs
Situations (featuring Obie Trice), Time To Die (featuring
Bizarre of D12) and The Mask are excellent examples of the stress
and depression inside Gordys mind. Speaking of stress Gordy speaks about
what happens when stress pushes him past the breaking point in the album cuts,
Stress, The Fight and We Violent.
Gordy also appeared as the rapper Big-O in the neo-classic film,
8 Mile. My life hasnt changed much from being in the movie because
my own life is a movie. In fact King Gordy is signed to the label that
released Eminem first, WEB Entertainment. The amazing musical production that
WEB Entertainment is known for, including the famous Bass Brothers and Eminem
himself, are huge factors on Gordys album. Em, Luis Resto, the Bass Brothers
and Mark the 45 King all contributed music on The Entity.
While Gordy works with Detroits hip hop elite he also performs with his
side group, The Fat Killahz. Check out the track Fat-tastik Four.
The group includes, Marvwon, Shim-e Bango and Fatt Father, the leader of the
group. The title of Gordys first single is The Pain, a sure
fire banger with screeching guitar, trunk thumping bass and ear catching rhyme
couplets.
The same themes and hip-hop/rock beat hybrid-beats on Gordys album can
also be found in the early incarnations of rap and rock music. Both styles have
always perfectly captured teen rebellion and rage. So dont be afraid to
experience something new and check out The Entity
