DKAID

Biography

One would say that July 26th, 1984 was not a very significant day. But what many are not aware of, is that this was the very day that Jared Hobbs was born. While this was a very special event, it does not lead up to a very exciting biography. Jared was not subjected to an early childhood of poverty, nor was he stricken with some form of rare sickness or complications. As a child, Jared was not constantly in trouble with the law, school, or even his own parents. What Jared did have was he had his mind in the game, but not the rap game. He had no idea about that yet. He had his mind in the game of life.
Driven by determination to be the most successful person he could possibly be, Jared worked his way through high school, graduating at the top of his class, entering college with the same mind frame. Life was about doing the best possible, to be able to provide the best possible for himself and his family. The common dream of being rich rested in the back of his mind, and he decided to pursue this goal. He would need as many sources of income as possible. Thus Jared put his entrepreneur personality to work.
Always thought of as “different”, Jared didn’t enjoy the same past times as other children. He made his brother and his friends endure many long hours of filming for his home special effects movies, backyard wrestling videos, and horror films. These were fun, but none of the participants were passionate about them. It was time to find a new hobby.
Jared’s family is a very musical family. All of his family members, including immediate and distant relatives, either sing or play an instrument to perfection. He was always pressured into trying to play or sing, but hated it. But as destiny would have it, things simply fell into place. The next venture into entertaining himself happened to be rap music.
Just like everything, there must be a beginning. Jared wrote his first rhyme at the age of 14. Using the ingenious idea of playing an instrumental through a speaker and rapping into a tape recorder so both the voice and the music was recorded, his first track was created. Skipping the usual 4-track recorder and karaoke machine steps normally taken in the evolution of an at home artist, Jared went completely digital. Using skills learned while applying music and sound effects to his special effects movies, he was able to record his voice straight into the computer. This birthed the era of J-Money.
Starting as a joke, Jared, his twin brother Josh, and their friend Lee started a group called Mad Whack with the aliases of J-Money, Lil’ Josh, and Lee-Murda respectively. Mad Whack were completely proud and understanding of their “whackness”. That is fully the reason for the name. It was all in fun. Many classic tracks were recorded in this time and bunched into groups and called albums. Eventually, just like the movies and wrestling, they grew weary of this game. But the difference this time was that Jared actually loved it. While Lee did his thing, and Josh continued to pursue his music career in the art of guitar, Jared continued to play around with his newfound hobby. Many solo albums were created, but the turning point was with the creation of the “compilation” album idea.
While still in the practice mode, Jared decided it was time to expand his horizons while having fun all the while. Many fun tracks were recorded, including songs about gummy bears and other nonsense. At this time, Jared decided that he would create a compilation, but he would play all of the separate artists on it. This created many crazy characters, including Double Barrel the gangster, and Tao Tse Tsung the ninja. His love for all forms of horror entertainment came into play here. Jared has always loved his large collection of horror movies and music. One rare form of rap music includes the small sub-genre called Horrorcore. Of course Jared loved this too. This helped in the creation of the horrorcore character Dkaid. This was nothing special, because there were many characters, and Jared made these songs and continued to practice.
While tiring of the J-Money and Mad Whack comedy routine, Jared decided he would make a collection of horrorcore tracks under the name Dkaid. He did so, and then continued to practice under the name J-Money. This was when Jared decided he was finally ready to release an album and make some profit from his work.
There is no secret reason for adopting the name Dkaid, besides it was more reasonable and less silly than J-Money. Dkaid will tell you nowadays that its because he was depressed at the time of the release of “The Breaking Point”. If you ask “Why did you name yourself Dkaid?”, he will say “Because life isn’t getting any better.” But everyone now knows the true story.
Dkaid started practicing rapping faster, which was evident with the release of “The Breaking Point”. Most would consider “The Breaking Point” to be a success, generating much money and allowing Dkaid to continue to pursue his career in music. This was the first professionally released album and marked the beginning of another era in Dkaid’s music advancement. To his surprise, he sold albums all across the globe, including Germany, Australia, and many other countries through online promotion, as well as copies of the album sold locally. This only pushed Dkaid harder.
Presently, Dkaid is working on his 2nd album entitled “Point Made”. Many surprises await the release, along with a catalogue of merchandise including stickers, t-shirts, posters, and more.
