Triple 9

Biography

Straight from WAX :  Triple 9's story isn't something you haven't heard before. We've been in the struggle for a while. Back in 1996, X and myself (known as Dead Corpse and MIZZ) formed a group called the DMJz, a group that was formed souly on the influence of ICP and Esham, nothing else. We wanted to do exactly what they were doing, rap the same shit, and pretty much try to be the same shit they were. That name was then changed a short while later to the Walking Dead. The Walking Dead was supposed to be our trip outta Des Moines. We were freestlyin over instrumentals, recording them on a boom box, then handing out tapes at high schools, malls, anyone on the streets that would take that fucking tape.

After a year or so of not doing anything, a cat named Heavy sought interest in recording our shit so we could get some decent quality and possibly an EP out. We spent most of 2000 working on "Mental Advisory", the first cd we were planning on releasing all over IOWA. At this time Heavy had joined the group and was slowly draining the blood of a group that really didnt need a piece of trash like him in it. Anyways, after I took a break to Detroit, X leaving the group a couple times, a few encounters with the cops, and over 30 songs, we quit the group and went our seperate ways.

In early 2001, X and I started working on solo projects with Heavy and his new management, DCC. X with the early works of Shattered Images (which later becomes a Triple 9 project), and I began working on the Infamous project. That shit was straight up whack. And after all the money and time we put into it, Heavy and his label dissapeared, never told us exactly why they closed shop and jacked our loot, but that's okay. Even us cats in Des Moines carry guns for a reason.

We decided to search for a producer, and we found one due to a mix cd we found at a local record store, Hip Hop Heaven (plug). DJ A Roc, baddest fuckin DJ in Iowa. Helped us produce our next album, When Darkness Falls. We dropped this album under the name DMI but then almost 2 days after we released the album we hooked up with Cap One. Who changed our name from DMI, to Triple 9.

Which brings us to where we are today. Working on the first ever LP, Shattered Images, which is basically a compilation of krazy ass shit for the underground minds. And we are now apart of the Rydas Family, which is something that should've happened along time ago. Whether it's light or darkness that is waiting for us, the music will be embedded in the minds of those who choose to accept what we say and clip the threads that keep their eyes sown shut.
