JASON 'JP' PEARL

Biography

JP was born in Hollywood, CA. He grew up and attended school in Los Angeles, CA, where Rap was surging as the dominant music among urban and sub-urban youth. JP grew up listening to, and drawing influence from, such groups as: the Beastie Boys, Boogie Down Productions and N.W.A. In 1994, JP set on a journey into the world of Rap music. He purchased his first pieces
of production equipment (an 8-track ADAT, Yamaha Drum Machine, Roland Analog keyboard & Alesis Midiverb) and started recording songs with his childhood friend, Mario Alonso aka "Crazy M.A.C." At this time, JP was recording and producing under the name "FABLE." In 1996, JP started a label called Theorum Records and later formed a Rap crew called "The Alliance." In 1998, they released a compilation CD entitled: Theorum Records Presents, Volume 1.

It was a compilation of crude recordings they had done from 1995-1998. Unfortunately, the CD only sold a few hundred copies. "The Alliance" broke-up and JP decided to start producing under his own name. In 1999, JP ran into an up and coming rapper named "Po' White Trash" from North Carolina. They clicked and started working on his album "Po'Like Dis" which spawned the single "Po' Punch" (produced by Lil' Jon) which went to #3 on Billboard's top rap singles in 2001. Shortly after the record was released, PWT's label, Pocket Change Productions, folded and the album was shelved. In 2001, JP met Cyco of Insane Poetry. They had both just gotten out of horrible record deals and decided to work together and form a new label run exclusively by them. In 2003, Grim Reality Entertainment was born and "Faith in Chaos" was released. Currently, JP is producing Insane Poetry's follow-up to "Faith in Chaos" and also working with Fallen Entertainment.
